NFL Executive Questions One of Cincinnati Bengals' Biggest Free Agent Additions

In this story:
CINCINNATI — The Bengals signed T.J. Slaton and Lucas Patrick in free agency.
While Slaton was their biggest addition—both literally and figuratively, Patrick may be the best value.
He signed a one-year, $2.1 million deal. Mike Sando of The Athletic talked to an NFL executive that praised the Patrick signing, but is curious about the fit.
“They got a nice bargain signing with Lucas Patrick,” the executive told Sando. “But he just played his best football with Klint Kubiak’s system in New Orleans, which is nothing like the pure dropback game in Cincy, where they try to throw the ball all over the yard.”
While Patrick is a nice signing, the Bengals still have a major void at guard. They cut Alex Cappa in March and it seemed like they'd add at least one starting-level guard in free agency.
Instead, it looks like they're content with Patrick, Cordell Volson and Cody Ford battling for a possible starting job. They'll also look to add a possible starting guard in the 2025 NFL Draft.
