NFL Free Agency: Cincinnati Bengals in Bidding War for Starting Guard?

In this story:
CINCINNATI — Don't look now, but the Bengals might be in a bidding war for a starting guard. Maybe it's Teven Jenkins or Brandon Scherff. Maybe it's Shaq Mason or Kevin Zeitler.
Jenkins would make the most sense. He's 27-years-old and appears to be an ascending player. The problem is he probably has multiple suitors.
The Bengals added multiple pieces to their roster on Monday—agreeing to terms with five players, but they didn't address the guard position.
That's likely the No. 1 thing on their priority list on Tuesday.
Scherff, Zeitler and Jenkins are the three players I would target. All three are proven pass protectors and would be significant upgrades in the middle of the Bengals' offensive line.
Mekhi Becton, Will Hernandez and Dalton Risner are three other intriguing options.
Bidding wars happen all the time in free agency—all it takes is for a player to have multiple suitors. The Giants and Seahawks are two other teams that could have serious interest in Jenkins.
The Bengals released Alex Cappa earlier this month. They need to sign a veteran, even if they plan on taking one early in the 2025 NFL Draft.
There hasn't been a ton of movement at the guard position. Guys like Will Fries, Patrick Mekari, Aaron Banks and James Daniels have signed with new teams, but there are quality veterans still available.
It's reasonable to think the Bengals are targeting Jenkins, given his age (27), pedigree and the way he's played for Chicago in recent seasons. Things have been quiet across the league on the guard front, which makes a bidding war even more likely.
Jenkins appears to be the guy that could break the dam and start the flurry of guard signings. Check out his Pro Football Focus grades below:
