Jordi Alba Set For Inter Miami Debut Next Week After Jorge Mas Confirms "He Has Already Signed His Contract"

Jordi Alba has become the latest former Barcelona star to sign for Major League Soccer side Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets trained with their teammates for the first time on Tuesday.

Later that day, club chairman Jorge Mas confirmed in an interview with TyC Sports that the duo will be joined by Alba on a free transfer later this week.

Mas went on to reveal that Miami head coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, who is also a former Barcelona man, was planning to play Alba in next week's Leagues Cup game against Atlanta.

Mas said: "I'm telling you in advance that he has already signed his contract and he will arrive in the next few days.

"Tata is counting on him for Tuesday's game."

Alba, 34, was widely considered to be the best left-back in the world at his peak.

He has been capped 93 times at senior international level and recently captained Spain to glory at the 2023 UEFA Nations League Finals.

Messi, Busquets and Alba all played together under Martino at Barcelona during the 2013/14 season.

Busquets and Alba left the Camp Nou earlier this summer after making 1,181 first-team appearances combined.

Messi departed Barcelona in August 2021 when he joined Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentina captain scored 672 goals in 778 games for Barca.

Messi and Busquets are expected to make their Miami debuts against Cruz Azul on Friday.
