Bleacher Report Picks Bengals Star Tee Higgins as Team's Most Overpaid Player

In this story:
CINCINNATI — Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon released his list of most overpaid players on each NFL team this week and Tee Higgins was his pick for the Bengals.
Higgins just signed a four-year, $115 million deal with the team this month.
"I wrote in this spot last year that the $21.8 million franchise-tag rate is silly for a player who has never gone over 75 catches, 1,100 yards, or seven touchdowns in four non-Pro Bowl campaigns," Gagnon wrote. "He did score 10 touchdowns in 2024, but the rest remains true for a player now making $28.8 million per season."
It's a wild take on a talent who has consistently helped unlock Cincinnati's elite offense under Joe Burrow. Higgins hasn't hit those higher-volume marks in his career because every year outside his rookie campaign has come alongside Ja'Marr Chase.
Only five players have more targets than Chase (582) since he entered the league in 2021. Higgins has 512 total targets in his career dating back to 2020. His production level is plenty fine entering the prime years of his NFL run.
