On January 20th, DeMarcus Van Dyke departed as FIU cornerbacks coach with the Panthers to join South Florida in the same position.

On Tuesday, G5 Football Daily learned that FIU has promoted outside linebackers coach Anthony Gaitor to cornerbacks coach, taking over Van Dyke's former role. safeties coach Nate Taye will remain in his role and FIU will now look to hire a new outside linebackers coach.

Gaitor, who is now entering his third year as a coach with FIU joined the staff in 2022 as an analyst, but would be promoted just a year later to become the Panthers' outside linebackers coach.

 Gaitor is also a former player at FIU. Spending four years with FIU, he had a total of 197 tackles, four sacks and 11 interceptions as a defensive back

In the 2011 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took Gaitor  in the seventh round with the 222nd overall pick. He would go on to spend two years with Tampa before officially hanging up the cleats.

The vacant outside linebacker coach position is expected to be filled by an outside candidate, however the possibility for another internal candidate is still on the table.
