Tottenham Confirm James Maddison Signing From Leicester As Harry Winks Prepares To Move In Opposite Direction

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the signing of James Maddison from Leicester City on Wednesday evening.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder, who has been capped three times by England, has penned a contract with Spurs until June 2028.

Maddison joined Leicester from Norwich in 2018 and went on to score 55 goals in 203 appearances for the East Midlands club.

According to BBC Sport, Spurs have agreed to pay Leicester £40m for Maddison. That fee could eventually increase to around £45m based on add-ons.

Tottenham look set to recoup £10m by selling Harry Winks to Leicester in the coming days.

Winks, 27, came through the youth system at Spurs and has played more than 200 first-team games for the club.

But he has only started 18 Premier League matches in the past three years, having spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Sampdoria in Italy.

Winks has been capped 10 times by England but has not played international football since 2020.

After being relegated from the Premier League last season, Leicester will begin life in the Championship on August 6 with a home game against Coventry.
