Arsenal Thrash PSV 4-0 On Return To UEFA Champions League
Arsenal returned to the UEFA Champions League with a bang on Wednesday by thrashing PSV Eindhoven 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners had not competed in Europe's top club competition since 2017.
But Mikel Arteta's side looked very much like they were back where they belonged as goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard overwhelmed their Dutch opponents.
Saka opened the scoring in the eighth minute when he gobbled up a rebound after Odegaard's initial shot had been saved by busy keeper Walter Benitez.
It was 2-0 midway through the first half after Saka set up Trossard, who guided a fine low shot into the net from 18 yards.
Goal no.3 came courtesy of an excellent two-touch finish by Jesus following a cross from Trossard.
With Arsenal keeping one eye on Sunday's north London derby against Tottenham, Saka, Trossard and Jesus were all substituted off midway through the second half.
But captain Odegaard stayed on and made it 4-0 in the 70th minute with a powerful strike from long range.
