CINCINNATI — Bengals legend Chad Johnson is stepping into the boxing ring next month. He'll fight a celebrity or athlete ahead of Floyd Mayweather's match against Logan Paul.
Ochocinco's opponent has yet to be determined, but promoters were targeting former Bengals cornerback Adam 'Pacman' Jones according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Johnson "flatly refused to fight" his former teammate, Florio wrote.
There's still a chance Jones joins Ochocinco on the Mayweather-Paul undercard, but they won't go up against one another.
Johnson and Jones for teammates for one season (2010) in Cincinnati. Ochocinco is one of the post popular players in franchise history. Jones developed into a Pro Bowler during his time with the Bengals, ultimately spending eight seasons in Cincinnati.
