BC Lions Linebacker Announces Retirement from Football

BC Lions linebacker Tyrell Adams shared his decision to retire from the sport on Instagram last week.

Just one month after signing in the CFL with the BC Lions, linebacker Tyrell Adams has changed course, instead retiring from football. Adams took to Instagram last week to release his statement that he is stepping away from the game.

“It’s taken me literally weeks of frustration and tears to even put this together but I’m finally happy to say I’m officially retiring from football,” Adams said as part of his Instagram post.

The 31-year-old linebacker last played in the XFL with the Seattle Sea Dragons last year, making 16 tackles in four games.

Former NFL and XFL linebacker Tyrell Adams announced his retirement from football one month after signing with the BC Lions in the CFL.

In two seasons with West Georgia, Adams contributed 120 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three interceptions, 11 pass deflections and two forced fumbles in 24 games. He was named First-Team All-Gulf South Conference in 2013.

BC loses a player who had plenty of professional experience, but the team is still in good shape at linebacker with top talent like Ben Hladik, Josh Woods and Maxime Rouyer available on defense and special teams.

The Lions kickoff the 2024 season on the road June 9 against the Toronto Argonauts.
