CINCINNATI — The Bengals officially released Trae Waynes on Monday afternoon.

The veteran appeared in just five regular season games in two seasons with the Bengals. Cincinnati saves $10.8 million in cap space with the move.

Waynes made $31 million during his two years with the club and didn't play a snap on defense during the Bengals' postseason run.

They also signed wide receiver Trenton Irwin to a one-year contract for the 2022 season.

Irwin had two receptions for 34 yards last season. The 26-year-old appeared in seven games in 2021.
