Tennessee Volunteers guard Dalton Knecht has been named a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year.

Tennessee guard Dalton Knecht has been one of the best players in program history. Although he's only spent one season with the program, he's transformed himself into a potential NBA lottery pick and has the Vols in the Sweet 16. Now, he's earned national recognition as one of the best players in the country.

Knecht is a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year Award, given annually to the top college basketball player. His fellow finalists are North Carolina guard RJ Davis, Houston guard Jamal Shead, and Purdue forward Zach Edey. All four are still playing in March Madness and have an opportunity to advance to the Elite 8.

Knecht averages 21.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He shoots 46% from the field and 39% from three on six attempts per game. He was a driving factor in Tennessee winning the SEC regular season crown and has had two strong tournament performances, despite a poor shooting performance against the Texas Longhorns.
