Former Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil Trolls Tottenham... Again

Former Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil trolled Tottenham Hotspur on social media on Friday and not for the first time.

Ozil - who made 254 appearances for the Gunners between 2013 and 2020 - hailed the return of "Bottle Job FC" after Spurs lost 2-1 at home to West Ham this week.

That game saw Tottenham become the first team in Premier League history to take the lead in five consecutive matches and fail to win any of them.

After this stat was shared via X.com by OptaJoe, Ozil reposted it along with the caption: "Who else should be able to break that record? Bottle Job FC is back".

Ozil is no stranger to using social media to mock Spurs.

In 2019, a Tottenham fan aimed a dig at Ozil by joking: "Wait why tf was Ozil in our team photo???"

Ozil was not in the photo. This was supposed to be a joke based on the suggestion that Ozil had often been 'invisible' during big matches for Arsenal.

Responding to the jibe, Ozil hit back with a reference to Tottenham's lack of silverware. "If you look closely ... you can see your trophy cabinet", he replied.

Ozil retired from soccer in March after being plagued by injuries towards the end of his career.

He won four FA Cups while at Arsenal, having previously lifted major trophies with Real Madrid and Werder Bremen.

Ozil was also part of the Germany team that won the FIFA World Cup in 2014.

Tottenham have been champions of England twice but not since the 1960s.

The club's most recent major trophy was the EFL Cup in 2008.
