Kendry Paez Scores Record-Breaking Goal For Ecuador After Assist From Future Chelsea Teammate

Kendry Paez made history on Thursday night when he became the youngest South American player ever to score a goal in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Ecuador midfielder Paez, aged 16 years and 161 days, netted his first international goal just before half-time in a 2-1 win over Bolivia in La Paz.

Paez showed impressive composure as he finished coolly with his left foot after collecting a through pass 10 yards inside the Bolivia half.

That through pass had been provided by Moises Caicedo, who is likely to be a future teammate of Paez at Chelsea.

Paez currently plays his club football for Ecuadoran side Independiente del Valle.

But he has agreed to join Chelsea in the summer of 2025 following his 18th birthday.

Chelsea announced that an agreement had been reached with Independiente del Valle and Paez in June.

Paez's record-breaking goal on Thursday put Ecuador 1-0 up.

Rodrigo Ramallo equalized for Bolivia in the 83rd minute before Kevin Rodriguez struck a late winner for Ecuador - following another Caicedo assist - in added time.
