Anonymous NFL Coach Would Take Joe Burrow Over Trevor Lawrence '100 Times Out of 100'
CINCINNATI — Trevor Lawrence has been considered the top quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft ever since he led Clemson to a National Championship as a true freshman during the 2018-19 season.
He's considered a generational prospect by many, but there are people in the league that aren't buying the hype around the 21-year-old.
"I don't know if he's a generational talent like people are saying." an AFC quarterbacks coach told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. "If you didn't take him and you're Jacksonville, and it turned out that he was a perennial Pro Bowler, then you'll never live it down. They have to take him. I think the intangibles are there. He can throw the ball. But he does not have unique, rare playmaking ability. If I'm comparing last year to this year, Joe Burrow [who was drafted first overall by the Bengals] is picked over Trevor Lawrence 100 times out of 100."

The Jaguars are going to take Lawrence with the first pick, but it's interesting that at least one NFL quarterbacks coach would take Burrow over him.
The two players took completely different paths. Lawrence was anointed at a young age. Meanwhile, Burrow didn't even win the starting job at Ohio State and wasn't a top prospect until his record-setting senior season at LSU in 2019.
The Bengals are happy with their quarterback and odds are the Jaguars will be happy with Lawrence.
