Montreal Alouettes Roster Signings Include Two Running Backs

The Montreal Alouettes brought in seven players on signings, including two running backs as possible replacements for William Stanback.

After losing one of their key offensive players, the Montreal Alouettes made more roster moves looking from outside to sign players. Seven players in total were either re-signed or signed onto the Als.

Here they are:

With running William Stanback being waived per his request, Montreal added Scott and re-signed Fletcher. Fletcher played in seven games last season, rushing for 266 yards and producing 176 receiving yards. Scott has played in the USFL with the Michigan Panthers over the last two seasons, putting up 605 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Gagnon helped on the offensive line last season, playing in 11 regular season games and three postseason games. He was the second overall pick by Montreal in the 2016 CFL Draft, playing in 81 career CFL games with the Als and Ottawa Redblacks.

Monday is set to make his first appearance in the CFL after spending some time with the New Orleans Saints last year. He played four years at Auburn, registering 105 tackles and five interceptions in 48 games.

Lindsey was on the Seattle Seahawks last year after producing 917 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his Oregon State career.

Cosby spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders the last two years coming off a 228-tackle career with the Louisville Cardinals over five seasons.

Cage also has NFL experience with the New Orleans Saints in 2023. He played 30 games at Ohio State, producing 12 tackles, three sacks and three fumble recoveries.

Fletcher and Scott are key signings as the team looks for a replacement for Stanback. James Tuck is the only other running back for Montreal who has not been re-signed. Tuck is one of nine Als who are set to be free agents on Feb. 13.
