Burnley Win EFL Championship Title By Beating Local Rivals Blackburn

Burnley wrapped up the EFL Championship title on Tuesday night by winning 1-0 at local rivals Blackburn.

Manuel Benson scored from Burnley's only shot on target midway through the second half at Ewood Park.

Blackburn pushed hard for an equalizer and were unlucky not to receive a late penalty kick when Ashley Barnes appeared to handle the ball inside the 18-yard box.

Tuesday's result took Burnley to 95 points from 44 games, moving them 13 points clear of Sheffield United, who have four matches remaining.

Burnley have now acquired more points this season than in any previous league campaign in the club's 140-year history.

Meanwhile, Blackburn's defeat saw them remain eighth in the Championship table, just below the playoff places on goal difference.
