David De Gea Gifts Sevilla Two Goals As Manchester United Crash Out Of Europa League

Sevilla 3-0 Man United (5-3 on agg)

David de Gea was badly at fault for two goals as Manchester United exited the UEFA Europa League at the hands of Sevilla on Thursday.

The keeper's errors allowed Youssef En-Nesyri to score for Sevilla in the eighth minute and then again in the 81st.

Loic Bade was also on target in between En-Nesyri's two strikes.

United had been rated as strong favorites to progress past Sevilla and reach the semi-finals, even after two own goals had seen the Spanish side come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Old Trafford in last week's first leg.

But Sevilla, who have only won nine of their 29 games in La Liga this season, made a mockery of those pre-match predictions.

Sevilla took an early lead in the second leg after De Gea played an ill-judged pass to Harry Maguire, who was pounced upon by two attacking players. Erik Lamela pinched the ball off Maguire before En-Nesyri stroked home his 16th club goal of the season.

De Gea was also arguably to blame for Sevilla's second goal of the game, which arrived just after half-time. An Ivan Rakitic corner kick was diverted goalwards by the shoulder of Bade and the ball looped over De Gea, who had been slightly slow to react.

Sevilla ended all hope of a United comeback when En-Nesyri punished De Gea's biggest mistake of the night in the final 10 minutes.

De Gea came rushing out of his penalty area to collect a clearance from Marcos Acuna but he failed to control the ball and watched on helplessly as it rolled kindly for En-Nesyri to shoot into an empty net from 30 yards.

Sevilla will now face Juventus in the semi-finals.
