Man City Beat Nottingham Forest But Lose Rodri For Three Games After Red Card For Violent Conduct

Manchester City made it six wins out of six in this season's Premier League by beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Saturday.

Both of City's goals came in the opening 15 minutes at the Etihad Stadium.

Phil Foden fired the reigning champions in front with a well-controlled strike from 15 yards after a Kyle Walker assist following a long-range pass by Rodri.

Erling Haaland then doubled City's lead with a powerful headed goal set up by Matheus Nunes, who was making his first EPL start since joining from Wolves earlier this month.

Everything was going smoothly for City but that changed 27 seconds into the second half when key midfielder Rodri was sent off.

Rodri was shown a straight red card for violent conduct after an angry clash involving Morgan Gibbs-White.

After battling for the ball near the corner flag, Rodri shoved Gibbs-White in the chest before raising his hands again and making contact with the Forest player's neck.

This happened right under the nose of referee Anthony Taylor, who did not hesitate before showing Rodri the first red card of his EPL career.

Pep Guardiola's side were able to see out the rest of the game with 10 men but Rodri will now also miss City's next three domestic fixtures through suspension.

Rodri's three-game ban will make him unavailable for Wednesday's EFL Cup trip to Newcastle, as well as City's next two EPL matches - against Wolves and Arsenal.
