Lauren James Scores Amazing Goal For Chelsea Against Roma In Her First Game After Women's World Cup Final

England star Lauren James scored a stunning goal for Chelsea in her first game after the Women's World Cup.

James - who was recently voted as last season's PFA Women's Young Player of the Year - played the first 45 minutes on Sunday as Chelsea beat Roma 3-2 in a pre-season friendly.

Roma took an early lead through Emilie Haavi before Guro Reiten leveled for the WSL champions.

Valentina Giacinti then fired Roma back in front on the half-hour mark with a superb strike from 25 yards.

But Chelsea retook the lead moments later with an even more spectacular effort from long range.

James collected the ball inside the center circle before dribbling forward with purpose and then lobbing the Roma keeper from 30 yards.

Wholesale changes were made in the second half and one of Chelsea's substitutes, Aggie Beever-Jones, went on to score the winner in the 90th minute.

Chelsea's first game of the WSL season will take place on October 1 when Tottenham Hotspur travel to Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Roma's domestic campaign is due to kick off on September 16.

James, 21, was a key player for the Lionesses at the Women's World Cup.

She scored three goals and assisted another three during five appearances at the tournament.

But James missed England's wins over Colombia and Australia in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively after being sent off against Nigeria in the round of 16.
