Winnipeg Blue Bombers Bring Back CFL All-Star OL Patrick Neufeld

One of the best free agent offensive linemen in the CFL is returning home as Patrick Neufeld and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers agreed to a new contract Monday.

Winnipeg took the first step in solidifying its offensive line for the 2024 season. The Blue Bombers announced the signing of CFL All-Star offensive lineman Patrick Neufeld on a one-year contract extension on X on Monday.

Neufeld was set to become a free agent in February and was included in our list of the top five free agent offensive linemen available in the CFL.

The decision to come back to Winnipeg was an easy one for Neufeld.

“It was a really quick decision,” Neufeld said during his conference call Monday. “I know I wanted to come back right away. I’ve said it many times, I don’t want to play anywhere else. As soon as I could, I got things going on my contract and I’m glad we got it hammered out relatively quickly before Christmas here.”

Neufeld's career began with Saskatchewan after he was drafted by the Roughriders in 2010, and he was traded to the Blue Bombers in 2013. He has played in 153 CFL games, with 116 of them being for Winnipeg.

Last season, he started 17 games and earned his third CFL All-Star selection of his career. His offensive line led to one of the best rushing attacks in the league and helped pave the way for running back Brady Oliveira, who led the league with 1,534 yards.

The 2024 season will be his 13th in the CFL and his 11th with the Blue Bombers.
