Winnipeg Blue Bombers Load Up, Sign Nine Players

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed nine players to the roster on Tuesday, including well-traveled quarterback Terry Wilson Jr.

Just a day after the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were able to get their front office personnel on new contract extensions, the team went to work on the roster. The team has signed nine players, including American quarterback Terry Wilson Jr.

Here is the list of players added:

  • Collin Kornelson, Defensive Lineman (National)
  • Max Charbonneau, Linebacker (National)
  • Bret MacDougall, Defensive Back (National)

Wilson played his college ball at multiple schools including Oregon, Garden City Community College, Kentucky and New Mexico. He had started 31 games for Kentucky and New Mexico recording 4,501 passing yards and 27 touchdowns to 16 interceptions. Wilson also ran for 1,062 yards and 11 touchdowns in that span.

While Wilson wasn’t drafted in the NFL, he attended the Dallas Cowboys’ rookie minicamp but ultimately didn’t join the team. He spent time in the USFL with the Houston Gamblers, throwing for 138 yards with one touchdown in six games played this past season.

Mitchell was a second-team All-MAC selection at Toledo where he caught 70 passes for 1,297 yards and 11 touchdowns in 52 games. Ontaria Wilson played at Florida State racking up 108 receptions for 1,521 yards and 12 touchdowns in 51 games.

Givhan was a member of the Blue Bombers’ practice roster, never playing in a regular season game. During his college career at Toledo, he recorded 97 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception in 47 games.

Before going undrafted in this past year’s NFL Draft, Woods played at Illinois in college. He finished his 49-game career with 78 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, three pass deflections, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

As for the Canadian players, Rosery played slotback for the Alberta Golden Bears, recording 32 catches for 440 yards and three touchdowns. He was drafted in the seventh round of the CFL Draft by the Edmonton Elks.

Kornelson played for the Manitoba Bisons, finishing his college career with 17 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He was drafted in the fifth round by Winnipeg.

Charbonneau was an award-winning defensive player with the Ottawa Gee-Gees, as he took home the President’s Award for outstanding stand-up defensive player in the OUA in 2023. Winnipeg’s eighth-round pick recorded 62 total tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one blocked field goal in his career.

While attending Windsor for the Lancers, MacDougall racked up 30.5 total tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery last year. The Blue Bombers drafted him in the sixth round of the CFL Draft.

Winnipeg is coming off a 14-4 season that ended in heartbreaking fashion with a 28-24 loss to the Montreal Alouettes in the Grey Cup.
