PSG Lose ONE MILLION Instagram Followers In 24 Hours After Lionel Messi's Final Game

Paris Saint-Germain's following on Instagram has dropped by one million users in just 24 hours after Lionel Messi made his final appearance for the club.

Messi ended his two-year spell with PSG by playing the full 90 minutes in Saturday's 3-2 home loss to Clermont.

It was announced prior to that game that Messi would be leaving the club at the end of his contract this summer.

PSG started Saturday's match with 69.9m Instagram followers but that had dropped to 68.9m by Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, Messi's personal account has 467m followers.

Lionel Messi is the second most followed person on Instagram

The only person with more followers is fellow soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who is followed by 587m users.

Ronaldo has massively enhanced the online profile of Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr since moving there in January.

Al Nassr's official Instagram following has grown from 800,000 to almost 15m since the five-time Ballon d'Or winner arrived in January.

Messi could be set to join Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia this summer, after receiving a contract offer from Al-Hilal that would make the Argentina captain the highest-paid player in soccer history.
