Edmonton Elks Sign OL Brett Boyko, DB Donnie Lewis Jr.

After roster turnover continues for the Edmonton Elks, the team signed offensive lineman Brett Boyko and defensive back Donnie Lewis Jr.

The Edmonton Elks have stayed active in the past week with roster moves as they signed two players to the roster in offensive lineman Brett Boyko and defensive back Donnie Lewis Jr.

Boyko returns after being signed by the Elks in July. He started 13 of the 14 games he appeared in as the right tackle for the team. He also spent 2023 playing for the Orlando Guardians of the XFL.

The BC Lions selected Boyko in the second round of the 2015 CFL Draft, with his most significant playing time coming in 2019 where he played 15 games for the team. He played eight games with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2021. He also spent time in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers.

Lewis was playing for the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL last season, recording 10 tackles and one interception in five games. He was a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last season on their practice roster.

The Cleveland Browns picked Lewis in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft where he would play for two seasons. He also had stops with the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos.

Edmonton has made headlines recently with the release of quarterback Taylor Cornelius and the signing of new quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

The Elks were 4-14 last season and missed the playoffs.
