Christian Atsu Still Missing After Turkey Earthquakes, According To Agent And Manager

The agent of Christian Atsu has said that the soccer player has not yet been located following the earthquakes that devastated southern Turkey this week.

More than 11,000 people have already been confirmed dead in Turkey and neighboring Syria after quakes measuring 7.8 and 7.5 on the official magnitude scale hit in the early hours of Monday morning.

Hatayspor winger Atsu was initially reported as missing before news broke on Monday evening claiming that he had been rescued from the rubble and taken to hospital.

However, more than 24 hours later soccer agent Nana Sechere said: "Following yesterday's update from the club that Christian had been pulled out alive, we are yet to confirm Christian's whereabouts."

Hatayspor manager Volkan Demirel said on Wednesday that the search for Atsu was still ongoing.

He told Turkish sport website Spor Arena that there was "no news yet" on Atsu or sporting director Taner Savut, who had also been reported as missing on Monday.

Demirel added: "If they were in hospital, don't you think I would share this? Please don't be sure that he survived. This should not be written as he survived."

Atsu moved to Turkey in September last year when he signed for Hatayspor.

The Ghana international had previously had spells at Porto, Chelsea, Everton, Bournemouth, Malaga, Newcastle and Al-Raed.
