Calgary Stampeders Re-Sign Four, Including Leading Rusher

The Calgary Stampeders are bringing back two players from 2023, including leading rusher Dedrick Mills.

Not long after bringing back All-Star center Sean McEwen, the Calgary Stampeders continued to re-sign players from last season as four more agreed to contract terms.

The following players are returning for 2024:

  • RB Dedrick Mills
  • DB Nick Statz
  • RB Peyton Logan
  • LB Darius Williams

Mills led Calgary in rushing yards last season with 802, adding four touchdowns on the ground. He also caught 21 passes for 123 yards and had 55 yards of kickoff return yardage. For his 20-game career in the CFL, Mills has run for 1,261 yards and six scores.

Statz was a sixth-round pick of the Stampeders in the 2019 CFL Draft. He played in 13 games last season, racking up five defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one pass deflection.

Logan has been a playmaker on special teams as a return specialist. His 2022 season was his best as a professional, finishing second in the CFL in all-purpose yards with 2,078 yards. He has returned two touchdowns on special teams. An injury kept him out from all but six games in 2023.

Williams is another key member on special teams on coverage, finishing with a team-high 22 special teams tackles in 2023. He’s played in 25 career games, registering 28 special teams tackles, 14 defensive tackles and one sack.

Multiple players on the Stampeders have been signed over the last two weeks with nine returning since Jan. 11.
