Ryan Reynolds Teases Fans By Posting Picture Of Gareth Bale In Wrexham Kit

Ryan Reynolds teased fans on Thursday by tweeting an image of Gareth Bale wearing a Wrexham AFC jersey.

The photoshopped picture showed Bale, 33, celebrating a goal in Wrexham's bright red home jersey while Reynolds and fellow co-owner Rob McElhenney stood watching on with their hands in their pockets.

Those pockets would likely have to be very deep for Wrexham to stand any realistic chance of convincing Bale to come out of retirement to play in League Two next season.

The former Real Madrid star called time on his playing career in January and is said to be enjoying retirement.

Bale sent a video message to McElhenney earlier this week to congratulate Wrexham on winning promotion from the National League to the English Football League.

McElhenney then posted the video on Twitter along with the cheeky message: "Hey @GarethBale11 let's play golf, where I totally won't spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season".

Bale responded: "Depends what course..."

Wales legend Bale has not played a competitive game of soccer since captaining his country in a 3-0 loss to England at the World Cup in November.

He came off at half-time in that game after playing the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw with the USMNT and a 2-0 defeat by Iran.

The last game of Bale's club career saw him score a 120th-minute equalizer for Los Angeles FC in the MLS Cup final against Philadelphia Union. LAFC went on to win the final in a penalty shootout.
