Ange Postecoglou Says Injured Tottenham Star "Won't, In All Likelihood, Play For Us Again"

Tottenham Hotspur's injury list currently features seven players.

Cristian Romero, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Alejo Veliz and Ivan Perisic have all been ruled out of Friday's FA Cup clash with Burnley, while Micky van de Ven and Ryan Sessegnon face late fitness tests.

Of all of those injured players, Perisic is expected to be out of action for the longest.

The 34-year-old made a bright start to the season and assisted goals in cameos against Fulham and Sheffield United.

But he then suffered a complex ACL injury in his right knee during a training session in September.

Perisic is only under contract with Spurs until the end of June and it is expected that he will not be fit to return to the pitch until after then.

Indeed, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou admitted in a press conference on Friday that Perisic has almost certainly played his final game for the club.

Asked by a reporter if he expected Perisic to play again this season, Postecoglou replied: "No, no.

"He's working hard, to be fair to Ivan. He's obviously got some national team commitments and he wants to get back as quickly as possible.

"He's been a significant loss for us. I thought this year he was going to be a really significant contributor because of his experience, and we saw that in the first few games in the way he impacted games.

"But he won't, in all likelihood, play for us again."

Perisic joined Tottenham from Inter Milan on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

He has played in 50 first-team matches for Tottenham. His only goal for Spurs came in a 3-3 draw at Southampton in March last year.
