Chelsea Fans Want Mauricio Pochettino Sacked After EFL Cup Final Loss to Liverpool

Mauricio Pochettino has still never won a trophy with an English club after his Chelsea side fell to a 1-0 defeat by Liverpool in extra time in Sunday's EFL Cup final.

The former Southampton and Tottenham manager was widely criticized following the game after his team failed to prevail against a Liverpool side missing several senior stars.

Liverpool were already without Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip and Darwin Nunez, before Ryan Gravenberch was forced off the field on a stretcher in the 28th minute with an ankle problem.

Former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville described the game during his commentary for Sky Sports as "Klopp's kids against the Blues Billion Pound Bottle jobs".

"#PochOut" later trended on X.com on Sunday evening as thousands of Chelsea fans vented their frustration.

One wrote: "Mauricio Pochettino is the worst manager in the history of Chelsea Football Club. Sack Poch now. SACK HIM NOW."

A different fan fumed: "SACK POCH IN THE TUNNEL. THE WORST MANAGER IN OUR HISTORY. BOTTLED A FINAL TO UNKNOWN KIDS. HE HAS MADE AN EMBARRASSMENT OF CHELSEA. SPURS BOTTLER".

Another disgruntled Blues supporter said: "We have to sack Poch immediately, we'll never get a better chance to win a trophy and he still bottled it. The ref was on our side, Liverpool had 12 players injured AND we had a week to prepare".

A similar message read: "Klopp playing kids and he outshined a billion squad managed by this bum Sack Poch now."

Pochettino has been in charge at Chelsea since July 1.

Sunday's game was his 35th as Blues boss. He has so far delivered 16 wins, seven draws and 12 losses.

Chelsea currently sit 10th in the Premier League table.
