Toronto Argonauts Add Pair of American Free Agents to Offseason Roster

The Toronto Argonauts continue to add intriguing American free agents to bolster the team's depth and offseason roster.

The Toronto Argonauts announced Tuesday that they had signed a pair of American free agents in offensive lineman Dare Rosenthal and defensive lineman Atlias Bell.

The Double Blue have been adding depth to their offseason roster through all avenues this offseason, including a half dozen signings south of Canada in the month of February alone.

Rosenthal, 24, most recently spent time with the Philadelphia Stars (USFL) and DC Defenders (XFL) in 2023. The 6-7, 327-pound tackle had a short stint with the Atlanta Falcons coming out of college in 2022. Rosenthal played collegiately for the Kentucky Wildcats and LSU Tigers, making 20 starts during his time in the S.E.C.

Bell is new to the pro game. The 25-year-old edge rusher attended the University of Houston (2019-2022), where he recorded 83 tackles, 15.5 for loss, eight sacks and one forced fumble in 37 games for the Cougars. The 6'-1, 275-lb late bloomer was a Pro Football Focus All-Conference player as a senior and was PFF's fifth-rated edge rusher nationally. Despite grading so highly coming off a breakout collegiate campaign. Bell was overlooked during the NFL draft process and did not receive a camp invite as an undrafted player.

Players like Rosenthal and Bell will have a chance to stick with Toronto when camp starts in May and during preseason action. To that end, the CFL has announced that the Argo's preseason tilt with the Ti-Cats, originally scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at 1 p.m. ET, will now be played on Friday, May 31 at 7 p.m.
