Roma Legend Daniele De Rossi Hired To Replace Jose Mourinho As Manager

Daniele De Rossi has returned to Roma after being named as the club's new manager until the end of the season.

The 40-year-old's appointment was announced on Tuesday shortly after Jose Mourinho, 60, had been fired

Former captain De Rossi made 616 appearances for Roma as a player between 2001 and 2019.

He said on Tuesday: "The emotion of being able to sit on our bench is indescribable.

"Everyone knows what Roma is for me, but the work that awaits all of us has already taken over.

"We have no time, no choice. Being competitive, fighting for our goals and trying to achieve them are the only priorities that my staff and I have given ourselves."

"We knew the indissoluble bond that unites Daniele to the club, but the enthusiasm with which he immediately accepted this challenge... further convinced us of his ability to be a guide for the players and a proud representative of the values of this club."

De Rossi was previously in charge of SPAL for 17 games between October 2022 and February 2023.

He also worked as assistant manager under Roberto Mancini in the Italy men's national team setup.
