Luton Town Captain Tom Lockyer Collapses During Premier League Game At Bournemouth
Saturday's Premier League game between Bournemouth and Luton Town was abandoned midway through the second half after Tom Lockyer collapsed on the field.
Luton captain Lockyer fell to the ground suddenly near the center circle before medical staff rushed over to provide treatment.
Both sets of players looked very concerned and some were seen praying on the pitch.
After it became clear that there were serious fears for Lockyer's wellbeing, referee Simon Hooper told both sets of players to return to the locker rooms.
The score was tied at 1-1 when the game was suspended in the 65th minute.
Around 12 minutes after the players had left the field, BBC Sport reported that Lockyer was "alert and responsive" in the tunnel at the Vitality Stadium.
Nevertheless, the match was officially called off at 4.49pm local time.
Players from both teams then walked around the field applauding as fans sang Lockyer's name.
Luton later confirmed that 29-year-old Lockyer had "suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch" but that he was "responsive" when he left the stadium.

Saturday's game came 203 days after Lockyer collapsed on the pitch during last season's EFL Championship playoff final at Wembley Stadium.
It later emerged that he had suffered an atrial fibrillation at Wembley - a condition that can cause an irregular or abnormally fast heart rate.
Lockyer underwent heart surgery over the summer before being cleared to return to playing.
Saturday's game was his 15th in the Premier League.
