Montreal Alouettes Sign Five Americans, Super Bowl Champion

The Montreal Alouettes signed five American players to the roster, including Super Bowl Champion running back Mike Weber Jr.

After solidifying the football operations staff and coaching staff, while keeping the roster relatively intact, the Montreal Alouettes now look to bring in some new blood to repeat as Grey Cup champions in 2024.

The team announced the signing of five American players:

  • Mike Weber Jr., Running Back
  • Marcus Williams Jr., Running Back
  • Kameron Brown, Wide Receiver
  • Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman, Wide Receiver
  • Kivon Bennett, Defensive Lineman

Weber won a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 as a member of their practice squad. He also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and New York Giants from 2019-21.

Before signing with Montreal, he was a member of the New Jersey Generals of the USFL and the Orlando Guardians of the XFL for the last two years. He was a standout at Ohio State, rushing for 1,000 yards in a season twice, winning Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2016 and was second-team All-Big Ten in the same year.

Williams had a successful college career for Appalachian State for four seasons, rushing for 2,216 yards and 14 touchdowns. He hit the transfer portal with Louisiana Tech in 2021, recording his best season in college with 792 rushing yards, 202 receiving yards and nine total touchdowns.

Brown is familiar with Montreal as a member on on their practice roster this past season. He was also a member of the Arlington Renegades of the XFL in 2023. Brown spent time in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. In his five-year college career at Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina, he totaled 2,567 yards and 26 touchdowns, earning all-conference honors three times.

Chiaokhiao-Bowman spent four seasons at Northwestern from 2017-20. He finished his career with 82 receptions for 968 yards and six touchdowns in 47 games.

Bennett was with the Alouettes last season, playing in one exhibition game and was on their practice roster. He participated with the Atlanta Falcons in their minicamp last year. Bennett’s college days were spent at Arkansas and LSU, where he recorded 160 total tackles, 12.5 sacks, five pass deflections and two fumble recoveries in 51 games.

The Alouettes added three Canadians to their roster in the week.
