Saskatchewan Roughriders Sign American DL Tre Crawford

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are bringing in some reinforcement in the trenches with the signing of American defensive lineman Tre Crawford.

Saskatchewan coach Corey Mace is actively addressing his new team's defense after the Roughriders finished 6-12 in 2023, adding a lineman to the roster in the latest improvement.

The team announced Monday the signing of American defensive lineman Tre Crawford.

Crawford is entering his third season in the CFL after playing the last two in Hamilton. He appeared in nine games for the Tiger-Cats in 2023, recording 14 total tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble. He played in just three games in 2022, putting up five defensive tackles and one sack.

After going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, Crawford signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent before moving on to the Denver Broncos through 2020.

His first two seasons in college were spent at Tyler Community College, where he recorded 96 tackles, six sacks, one forced fumble and one interception. Crawford then transferred to UAB in 2017 and racked up 43 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, eight sacks and two fumble recoveries in 21 games.

Crawford is the second defensive lineman to be signed by Saskatchewan since Mace took over as head coach. The team also re-signed Miles Brown to a contract extension last week.
