Jurgen Klopp Criticizes Quiet Liverpool Fans And Demands More Noise Against Arsenal

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was disappointed with the atmosphere created by his team's supporters during Wednesday's EFL Cup quarter-final.

The Reds thrashed West Ham 5-1 at Anfield - three days after drawing 0-0 with Manchester United in the Premier League.

Klopp was delighted with his players after Wednesday's match but he urged fans to do better.

"In the first half, when the boys played exceptionally, I was not overly happy with the atmosphere behind me," Klopp said in a post-game media conference.

"I asked people: 'What do they want?' We changed a lot of things and we dominated West Ham like crazy and missed chances. If I was in the stands, I would be on my toes, 1,000%.

"I don't know if the Man United game was that bad that we have to say sorry we didn't smash them?"

Liverpool will next be in action on Saturday evening when Premier League title rivals Arsenal visit Anfield.

A win over the Gunners would see Liverpool jump to the top of the table.

Klopp issued a rallying cry to fans ahead of that game, urging them to sing up or stay at home.

"We need Anfield on Saturday," Klopp added.

"Arsenal didn't play this week. Anyone who knows anything about them knows they will be prepared, so we need Anfield on their toes from the first second, without me having an argument with the opposition coach. We need you from the first second.

"So if you really want, if it is too much football in December, I don't know, sorry we have to play it as well. But if you are not in the right shape, give your ticket to somebody else."

Wednesday's win against West Ham came just over 72 hours after Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Man United at the weekend.

Former United captain Gary Neville said on Sky Sports after Sunday's match that "the atmosphere was the worst I've seen at Anfield ever in a Liverpool vs Manchester United game".

Liverpool will face Fulham in the EFL Cup semi-finals in January.
