Manchester Dethrones Liverpool As Most Successful City In English Football History

Manchester is officially the most successful city in English football following Manchester City's latest Premier League title triumph.

Teams representing Manchester have now been crowned champions of England on 29 occasions.

Man City have been responsible for nine of those titles - in 1936/37, 1967/68, 2011/12, 2013/14, 2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21, 2021/22 and now 2022/23.

Meanwhile, neighbors Manchester United have won England's top division a record-breaking 20 times.

Manchester City are nine-time champions of England

After Manchester, Liverpool is the next most successful English city in terms of league titles, with 28.

Liverpool FC have ended 19 seasons as England's top team, while Everton were champions nine times between 1891 and 1987.

London is England's third most successful footballing city, with Arsenal (13), Chelsea (6) and Tottenham (2) winning 21 titles between them.
