Thomas Tuchel Interested In England Job If Gareth Southgate Leaves After World Cup

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly interested in becoming the next England manager if the job becomes available this summer.

Current Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate is under contract with the Football Association until 2024.

But after England's woeful Nations League campaign it is felt that this year's Qatar World Cup could be his final tournament in charge if it does not go well.

Tuchel is currently unemployed after being fired by Chelsea in September.

According to The Telegraph, Tuchel has already rejected offers from two English clubs but he would be open to working with the national team.

Another possible candidate to replace Southgate could be ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who was at Wembley Stadium to watch England's 3-3 draw with Germany earlier this month.

England have not had a foreign manager since Italian Fabio Capello in 2012.

German Tuchel could be seen as a strong candidate though, having demonstrated his ability to win tournaments at Chelsea.

Tuchel led Chelsea to glory in the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup in 2021.

He was fired despite winning 60 of his 100 games in charge across all competitions.

Southgate has won 46 (60.5%) of his 76 matches as England manager, drawing 17 and losing 13.
