Marcel Sabitzer Scores Twice Against Sevilla Before Man United's Dream Start Turns Into Defensive Nightmare

Manchester United made a dream start to their UEFA Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla thanks to two goals from Marcel Sabitzer inside the opening 21 minutes of Thursday's first leg.

United had never previously beaten Sevilla but they went in front on the quarter-hour mark when Sabitzer collected a pass from Bruno Fernandes, spun defender Marcao and finished powerfully from 15 yards.

Sabitzer doubled his tally moments later with a cool one-on-one finish past keeper Bono following a defense-splitting pass from Anthony Martial.

Bayern Munich loanee Sabitzer has now scored three goals for United since moving to Old Trafford in January.

But Thursday's game will not be remembered for Sabitzer's goals.

That is because United scored two late own goals to gift Sevilla a 2-2 draw ahead of next week's second leg in Spain.

Tyrell Malacia gave Sevilla a lifeline in the 84th minute when he deflected a Jesus Navas cross past David de Gea.

Sevilla then scored again in added time when Youssef En-Nesyri's off-target effort found the net after striking the head of Harry Maguire.

United had earlier seen their two first-choice center-backs, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, leave the pitch with injury issues.
