BC Lions Re-Sign Linebacker Maxime Rouyer on Two-Year Extension

The BC Lions have locked in global linebacker Maxime Rouyer with a contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2025 season.

Continuing their focus on keeping key depth players on the roster, the BC Lions have secured one of their linebackers for the next two years.

Global linebacker Maxime Rouyer signed a two-year contract extension that will run through the 2025 season, the team announced Thursday.

Rouyer went to school at McGill University, where he played from 2015 through 2018. He recorded 103 total tackles and 4.5 sacks in 23 games.

During the 2019 European CFL Draft, Rouyer was taken fourth overall by Edmonton. He spent two seasons with the Elks, recording four special teams tackles in 18 games played.

In 2022, Rouyer joined the Panthers Wroclaw of the European Football League. He finished the season with 89 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and three fumble recoveries — including one he returned for a touchdown.

Rouyer found his way back into the CFL later in the 2022 season when he signed with the BC Lions. He appeared in seven games that year, recording one forced fumble, before finishing the 2023 season with a career-high seven total tackles in 12 games played.

The Lions finished with a 12-6 overall record, losing in the West Final to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the second consecutive season.
