Alouettes, Blue Bombers Release First Grey Cup Injury Reports

With the Grey Cup is just a few days away, the Montreal Alouettes and Winnipeg Blue Bombers are sizing up who they have available for the championship game.

The Montreal Alouettes and Winnipeg Blue Bombers had 31 combined players on the first injury report for Saturday’s Grey Cup, which will conclude the CFL season.

While 19 of those 31 were healthy scratches, only six actually missed Wednesday’s workouts and all of them play for Winnipeg.

Perhaps the most important of those Blue Bombers are wide receivers Dalton Schoen and Nic Demski, both of which are dealing with ankle injuries.

Schoen was ruled out for the West Division final with the injury, and his coach, Mike O’Shea, said earlier this week and he wasn’t prepared to rule him out.

He had a huge season for Winnipeg, as he caught 72 passes for 1,233 yards and 10 touchdowns. He hasn’t played since Oct. 6 against the BC Lions.

Demski has also had a great season, with 67 receptions for 1,006 yards and six touchdowns. He was a game-time decision for the West final, but didn’t play. He hasn’t played since Oct. 21 against Edmonton.

Linebacker Adam Bighill was another Blue Bomber that O’Shea wouldn’t rule out earlier this week. He’s working through a calf injury, but he arrived for Grey Cup festivities this week wearing a walking boot.

He had 74 tackles and four sacks this season but hasn’t played since the Edmonton game on Oct. 21.

The other Blue Bombers that did not practice due to injuries on Wednesday were wide receiver Rasheed Bailey (knee), linebacker Kyrie Wilson (hip) and defensive lineman Jackson Jeffcoat (hip).

Winnipeg is seeking to become the second CFL team to win 10 or more Grey Cups. The Blue Bombers have won nine. Montreal is seeking to win its seventh Grey Cup. Winnipeg last won in 2021, while Montreal last won in 2010.
