Wales Beat Croatia As Two Harry Wilson Goals Give Euro 2024 Qualifying Hopes Huge Boost

Harry Wilson scored two goals to fire Wales to a 2-1 win over Croatia in a Euro 2024 qualifier in Cardiff.

Wales went into Sunday's game knowing that a loss against Luka Modric and Co would end all hope of Rob Page's side booking a place at next year's tournament in Germany.

Croatia started the game as strong favorites but were thoroughly outplayed.

Keeper Dominik Livakovic was called upon to make fine saves to deny Wilson and Neco Williams during a goalless first half.

But Livakovic was beaten by Wilson 87 seconds into the second half when the Fulham midfielder found the net with a first-time lob following a pass from David Brooks.

It was 2-0 just before the hour-mark when Wilson headed home from a Daniel James cross.

Croatia did not record a shot on target until the 75th minute but a scrappy goal from Mario Pasalic set up a nervous final quarter-hour for the home team.

However, Wales held on to record a result that saw them move up to second place in Group D.

Croatia dropped to third, despite being level on points with Wales and having a much better goal difference.

That is because Wales now have a superior head-to-head record against Croatia.

Both sides have two matches left to play. Wales will travel to Armenia on November 18 before finishing their qualifying campaign at home to group leaders Turkey three days later. Two wins would guarantee qualification for Wales.

Croatia still need to play Latvia away and Armenia at home.

Turkey beat Latvia 4-0 in Konya on Sunday to book their place at Euro 2024.
