Edmonton Elks Add Size to Offensive Line Via 6-Foot-7 Blocker

The Edmonton Elks' o-line just got bigger with the signing of offensive lineman Jonathan Buskey on Monday.

The Edmonton Elks are rolling through the offseason, with their latest signing strengthening the offensive line. Jonathan Buskey agreed to a contract with the Elks on Monday.

Buskey enjoyed success on the field with Elizabeth City State University in 2023, appearing in eight games for the Vikings. Back in December, he was part of the Historically Black College and Universities (HBCU) Pigskin Showdown, which is an All-Star game for draft-eligible players who attend HBCU schools.

Before transferring to Elizabeth City State, Buskey attended Chowan University in 2021 and Coffeyville Community College from 2017 to 2019. The 6-foot-7 lineman was named as a KJCCC All-Conference honorable mention in 2018 and 2019.

Over the past two weeks, the Elks have been relatively quiet in free agency, only signing wide receiver and Last Chance U star John Franklin III and defensive back Brian Hughes Jr. since February 20. Edmonton has just nine offensive linemen on the active roster, three of whom have been recently added. Three other offensive linemen are on the team’s suspended list.

The Elks start their season at home on June 8, taking on the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
