2024/25 UEFA Nations League Draw: Italy, Belgium and France in Same Group

The draw for the fourth season of the UEFA Nations League took place in Paris on Thursday.

France - who won the second edition of the tournament in 2021 - were drawn into Group A2 alongside Italy, Belgium and Israel.

Holders Spain were placed into Group A4 with Denmark, Switzerland and Serbia.

Elsewhere in the top tier, Group A1 will consist of Croatia, Portugal, Poland and Scotland.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands, Hungary, Germany and Bosnia & Herzegovina will battle it out in Group A3.

After being relegated last season, England will compete in League B.

In order to secure a direct return to League A, the Three Lions must finish first in Group B2 ahead of Finland, Greece and the Republic of Ireland.

However, a format change means that England could also finish second and still win promotion by beating a third-placed team from League A in a two-legged playoff.

The new format will also include quarter-finals in League A. Previous seasons had gone straight from the group phase to the semi-finals.

Teams will qualify for the quarter-finals by finishing first or second in a League A group.

These quarter-finals will take place over two legs with the four winners qualifying for the 2025 UEFA Nations League Finals, which will follow the same format as in previous years.

Group games will take place across three international windows in 2024 - in September, October and November.

All promotion/relegation play-offs will then be held in March 2025, as will the League A quarter-finals.

The Finals tournament will be staged in June and hosted by one of the four qualified nations.
