Erling Haaland Breaks Manchester City Scoring Record That Had Stood For 94 Years

Erling Haaland is officially having the most prolific scoring season in Manchester City history.

The 22-year-old netted five times in Tuesday's 7-0 win over RB Leipzig to take his tally of goals for the 2022/23 campaign to 39.

Prior to Haaland, no City player had scored more than 38 goals in a single season.

Thomas Clark Fisher Johnson recorded 38 goals in 39 matches during the 1928/29 campaign.

It has taken Erling Braut Haaland 36 games to get his first 39 goals of the 2022/23 season.

City could play another 19 matches before the season is over.

This is not yet Haaland's best ever scoring season.

He netted 41 goals in 41 games for Borussia Dortmund in 2020/21.
